About
- Name origin
- BOL4 is short for Bolbbalgan Sachungi, Korean for 'blushing youth': Woo Ji-yoon represented the 'blushing' part and Ahn Ji-young the 'youth,' reflecting the pure, honest music of adolescence they wanted to make.
- Formation
- Childhood classmates Ahn Ji-young and Woo Ji-yoon from Yeongju appeared on Superstar K6 in 2014, then debuted as a duo under Shofar Music on April 22, 2016 with the EP Red Ickle. After Woo Ji-yoon left in April 2020, Ahn Ji-young continued BOL4 as a solo act, and after parting ways with Shofar Music in April 2025 she signed with Kenvers in January 2026.
- Why fans love them
- Fans love BOL4's gentle indie-pop sound, diary-like lyrics, and Ahn Ji-young's distinctive sweet vocal tone, which made an indie act into a chart-dominating mainstream success. Songs like 'Galaxy,' 'Some,' and 'Travel' became everyday-life anthems across Korea.
