82MAJOR

About

Name origin

The name combines South Korea's international dialing code "82" with "MAJOR" — the group's stated ambition to become a major boy band representing Korea and to go beyond Korea's borders to become a global major act. All six members perform under their real names, no stage names.

Formation

82MAJOR is Great M Entertainment's first boy group, built through the agency's RAREHOUSE trainee project (SNS accounts opened April 2022). Five of the six members — Seongmo, Seokjoon, Seongil, Seongbin and Dogyun — were revealed through RAREHOUSE content, while pre-debut trainees Lee Dong Gun (Boys Planet) and Cho Yeon Woo (Fantasy Boys) departed. The official group name 82MAJOR was announced August 2, 2023, Yoon Yechan was revealed as the sixth and final member on September 21, 2023, and the group debuted on October 11, 2023 with the single album "On" (lead single "First Class", plus pre-release "Sure Thing" on Oct 5). Their catalog since: the mini albums "Beat by 82" (April 2024, lead single "Choke"), "X-82" (October 2024, "Stuck" — their first Billboard chart entry, World Digital Song Sales), "Silence Syndrome" (April 2025), "Trophy" (October 2025), "Feelm" (April 2026), and the second single album "Heat" (September 2026, "Like Fire").

Why fans love them

Fans know 82MAJOR as a hip-hop-forward fifth-generation group where every member can rap and takes part in songwriting and production — the agency touts that all six contributed to tracks like "82." Their performance reputation earned them the "performance idol" tag, and "Stuck" (2024) gave them their first Billboard chart success, followed by their first-ever music show win with "Like Fire" on Show Champion on September 9, 2026. The official fandom name is 82DE (에티튜드, "attitude"), announced April 5, 2024 — a portmanteau meaning they'll always approach each other with sincere attitude. They're currently on their 2026 fall/winter US tour (Nov–Dec, ~18 cities) promoted by Leo Presents, and were nominated for Best New Artist (K-pop) at the 2026 iHeart Radio Music Awards.
