STAYC

About

Name origin

STAYC is an acronym for 'Star To A Young Culture' — the group's stated ambition to become stars who lead young culture.

Formation

STAYC was produced by the hitmaking duo Black Eyed Pilseung (Rado), who founded High Up Entertainment and made STAYC the company's first girl group — a 'producer idol' group whose title tracks are all produced by the duo. Members were revealed September–October 2020 (Sieun first on September 8; Sumin and Seeun the next day; six members confirmed October 7; the name STAYC revealed October 12). The six-member group debuted on November 12, 2020 with the single album Star To A Young Culture and its title track 'SO BAD.' Follow-ups 'ASAP' (STAYDOM, 2021) and 'STEREOTYPE' (2021) went viral; 'RUN2U' (2022), 'Teddy Bear' (2023) and 'Bubble' (2023) cemented them as a top 4th-generation girl group. They completed their first world tour TEENFRESH (2023–24) and the STAY TUNED tour (2025), and are touring Australia in October 2026 with the fan concert tour STAY CLOSER.

Why fans love them

STAYC built its identity on the 'TEENFRESH' concept — bright, high-energy teen pop delivered with strong live vocals, a reputation for singing live that set them apart among 4th-generation groups. 'ASAP' became a viral TikTok hit, while 'STEREOTYPE,' 'RUN2U' and 'Teddy Bear' were major chart successes in Korea and abroad. Fans love the members' polished performances and close fan engagement; their official fandom SWITH has supported tours across Asia, the Americas and Oceania, including the 2026 fan concert tour STAY CLOSER (Australia: Perth Oct 14, Melbourne Oct 16, Sydney Oct 18). The fandom name SWITH — a combination of STAYC and 'WITH,' pronounced like 'sweet' — was announced on December 31, 2020, chosen from over 1,000 fan submissions.
