About
- Name origin
- LIGHTSUM combines 'light' and 'sum,' symbolizing small shining lights gathering together to light up the world and deliver greater positive energy through a message of hope.
- Formation
- Cube Entertainment's first new girl group since (G)I-DLE, LIGHTSUM debuted on June 10, 2021 with the single album Vanilla as an eight-member group; several members had prior survival-show exposure on Produce 48 and The Unit. On October 25, 2022, Huiyeon and Jian departed and the group continued as six members, returning as a sextet with Honey or Spice in October 2023 and making their Japanese debut with Re:idol in September 2026.
- Why fans love them
- Fans love LIGHTSUM for bright, high-energy performances, stable live vocals during sharp choreography, and a hopeful, feel-good sound — from the bubbly debut 'Vanilla' to the confident 'Honey or Spice' and the kawaii-styled Japanese reinvention 'Doshite.' Their persistence through a long hiatus and a full-group return in 2026 has kept their fandom, SUMIT, closely bonded to the six members.
