About

Name origin
The name Fly to the Sky expresses a passionate challenge toward future dreams and ideals, reaching upward for what lies ahead.
Formation
Brian Joo, a Korean-American auditioned in New Jersey, and Hwanhee, scouted at a high school festival in Seoul, were paired by SM Entertainment and debuted on November 21, 1999 with the album Day by Day. After leaving SM in 2004 and moving to PFull Entertainment, the duo signed with H2 Media in 2014 for their comeback after a five-year hiatus.
Why fans love them
Fans love Fly to the Sky as Korea's pioneering R&B duo, built on Hwanhee's powerful, soulful voice against Brian's softer tone and their close, soaring harmonies. Their run of early-2000s hits became karaoke and nostalgia staples, and their 2026 reunion tour, the first solo nationwide tour in eight years, drew fans who had waited years to see the pair on stage together again.

Hit songs

Day by Day

The duo's debut title track from the 1999 album Day by Day, a mid-tempo R&B-pop ballad that introduced their harmonies to a K-pop scene dominated by dance groups.

Why it hit: It launched the duo with over 250,000 album sales and a Best New Artist award, establishing them as SM's first major R&B act.

Missing You

The title track of the 2003 fourth album, a soaring R&B ballad about longing, built around a dramatic chorus that shows off the duo's vocal blend at full stretch.

Why it hit: It topped the charts for two weeks and became the duo's signature song, still sung in karaoke rooms across Korea decades later.

Like a Man

The title track of the 2006 sixth album Transition, a confident, masculine R&B number marking the duo's mature sound after their move to PFull Entertainment.

Why it hit: It anchored the album that reached No. 2 on the charts and became a concert staple of their late-2000s peak.
